I am the Professional Development Manager at the University of Pikeville, where I work on campus-wide initiatives aimed and improving student learning in face-to-face, blended, and online courses and research into open education. Specifically, my research has focused on motivation as it relates to Open Pedagogy as well as transfer/maintenance.
I hold a doctoral degree in Teaching and Learning, a Master’s in Microbiology, and a secondary teaching certification. In higher education, I have served a number of roles including E-Learning Director, Director of a center for online and blended learning, Teaching and Learning Coordinator, and now Professional Development Manager.
My teaching experience includes a variety of college-level courses including College Algebra I and II, Statistical Applications for Educators, Research Methods in Criminal Justice, Qualitative and Quantitative Methods, and Inquiry-based Learning. In the past my research efforts include work on Problem-based Learning and blended education. Recently, I was awarded a research fellowship through the Open Education Group.
