Gaelan Lee Benway serves as Professor of Sociology and Academic Assessment Facilitator at Quinsigamond Community College. She joined the faculty in 2005 after earning a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University, where her dissertation focused on work-family balance negotiations among Dominican immigrants to Providence, RI. Her interests continue to center on diversities of race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, age, and health. Gaelan dedicates herself to promoting institutional equity within various enterprises devoted to diversity and inclusion. She firmly believes that teaching and assessment present opportunities to build equity and inclusion, regardless of role.
