Open legal education resources have the potential to not only reduce costs and improve the quality of education for law students, but also to create avenues for undergraduate and other students to access and learn from legal materials that would have previously been unattainable due to cost or licensing hurdles.

In this session participants will learn about the open legal education platform H2O and hear from Professor Jeremy Peters at Wayne State University who found an open legal textbook originally created for a course at Harvard Law School and remixed it for his undergraduate course. The session will also cover broader opportunities for educators outside of the traditional legal field to leverage the H2O platform in their classrooms.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Attendees will understand how to access and use the H2O platform to find and adapt legal education resources for courses outside of the traditional legal field
  • Attendees will learn what to consider when adapting existing resources for a new field
  • Attendees will understand the opportunities for OER to expand the reach of educational resources outside of specific fields of study
