Professional Development for Open Education Leaders: A Community Dialogue

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
This session will highlight experiences from instructors/presenters and participants from popular professional development opportunities in open education, such as ACRL’s OER RoadShow/Off-RoadShow, OEN’s Certificate in OER Librarianship, and SPARC’s Open Education Leadership Program. Presenters will share their experiences on how these programs build community around open education. In the discussion portion, we’d like to hear about *your* needs for professional development, collaboration, and community. We’ll try to identify any gaps that exist and explore how the open education community can fill those gaps. Additionally, we’ll discuss how these programs (and others) support equitable access and ways the open education community can continue to support a variety of professional development opportunities. Presenters and attendees will build on a shared document that can be used and referred to after the session.  In order to ensure all voices are heard, breakout rooms will be used after the session introduction to facilitate discussions (20 minutes).  Presenters and attendees will come back together for the last 10 minutes of the session to share discussion highlights.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Attendees will become familiar with professional development programs in open education
  • Attendees will understand programs’ different delivery modes, learning methods, and outcomes
  • Attendees and presenters will identify gaps in professional development and future opportunities
