Without hearing the stories behind how the most groundbreaking online learning came to be, we're not going to be able to hope to repeat, or learn from, that success. And unless these online learning experiences were built in an open manner in the first place, which is rare, we're not going to hear most of these stories without opening things up a little bit. This project by Terry Greene (Senior eLearning Designer at Trent University) and Anne-Marie Scott (Deputy Provost at Athabasca University) aims to do just that. Inspired by the book "Check The Technique: Liner Notes for Hip Hop Junkies" by Brian Coleman, which works to tell the stories about how the most innovative hip hop albums got made, Check The O.L. is a podcast making its way into a book, working to tell the same stories for Online Learning. Its first season has covered ten of the most innovative and barrier-breaking online learning experiences of all time. This session will let you in on the stories and where things are going next, and seek your input as to the stories that have yet to be told and where to look for them. The output of the project will be an openly licensed book.
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
Discuss some of the ways that the most innovative and groundbreaking online learning experiences came to be
Provide input into the future stories of online learning to be told via this project
