At Nevada State College, the library’s flagship textbook affordability program is the No-Cost Textbook Summer Institute. Librarians lead an intensive six-week institute to support instructors as they convert their course from a paid textbook to an open educational resource or library provided ebook. Over 30% of the full-time instructors at Nevada State have participated in the program. The institute includes one-on-one support for evaluating resources, integrating them into Canvas, and understanding copyright and fair use.
In this session we will share our experience recruiting and working with instructors to adopt OER solutions. We will also present faculty feedback from the institute as well as student data showing improved success rates for students that enrolled in converted course sections.
