Learn the why and how of participating in and conducting open research. Open research involves sharing in-progress data and inviting meaningful feedback from others outside the project. The presenters have been exploring ways to open their research on lifelong learning and OER as part of a three-year, federally funded project in the U.S. They will discuss why and how they have opened opportunities for individuals from a variety of contexts to contribute to the project. The presenters will discuss the value of open research, lessons learned in their experience so far, and practical tools and techniques. Participants will leave the session with ideas for how they could apply open principles to their own formal and informal research projects. The intended audience are researchers and educators interested in applying open research practices.
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
Identify the value in participating in or conducting open research
Identify potential pitfalls in conducting open research
Identify helpful tools and techniques in conducting open research
Reflect on potential opportunities for doing their own open research
